January 22, 2017Reviewing status of Asiatic cheetah
February 6, 2017On 24 January 2017, a one-day training workshop was held in Tonekabon, a town on the Caspian coast a short way southeast of Ramsar and not far from the Dohezar-Sehezar No Hunting Area. In sessions specifically designed for rangers, workshop tutor Mohammad Ali Adibi, an experienced Iranian carnivore expert, presented a wide range of information on carnivore ecology. Supported by the Future4Leopards Foundation, the 34 attending rangers learned about the identification of tracks and skulls and the morphology and identification of animal carcasses.
Dohezar-Sehezar No Hunting Area has been one of the Project’s pilot sites since 2016, with the setting up of community-based anti-poaching programs a top priority in the area. Equally important, training and equipping local rangers to enhance their performance has been actively implemented.
