Gender matters in leopards
July 7, 2014Tandoureh’s best known leopard is collared
September 30, 2014An adult male was captured on 28 September 2014 in Tandoureh National Park. Caught in a snare trap set by the Foundation team, he was named Borna, meaning “prime”, and was the first leopard to be collared in the park. Borna, aged between 4 and 6 years old, looked healthy and was safely anesthetized by the Foundation vet. He was unknown to our team, which had developed a photographic catalogue of the area’s leopards using images taken by rangers and tourists. Borna stayed around the trap site for the next few days before starting his journey eastward to the park boundary.
